Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />Directly supervises employees in the Building Inspection Department. Carries out <br />supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. <br />Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; <br />rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems. <br />Responsibilities also include the ability to effectively recommend hiring, promoting, <br />demoting, suspending and discharging of employees. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty <br />satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, <br />and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals <br />with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Inspection or related field. <br />Minimum of five (5) years experience in municipal building inspection. Minimum of five (5) <br />years experience in building trades. <br /> <br />LANGUAGE SKILLS <br /> <br />Ability to read and interpret documents such as reports, blueprints, building codes, zoning <br />codes, City and State ordinances, laws, policies, and regulations, contracts, and <br />procedure manuals. Ability to prepare reports and correspondence. Ability to <br />communicate effectively both orally and in writing with supervisors, City staff, contractors, <br />elected officials and the general public. <br /> <br />MATHEMATICAL SKILLS <br /> <br />Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole <br />Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages. <br />geometric equations. <br /> <br />numbers, fractions and decimals. <br />Ability to determine area's using <br />
