C

August 9,2002

TO:

Joe Lynch, City Administrator

CC:

Aaron Parrish, Community Resources Director

Terrance Post - City Accountan@

One Day Gambling Permit Application

FROM:

SUBJECT:

ENCLOSURES:

LG220 Application for Exempt Permit
Letter Sportsphere Foundation

Backl!.round
The Sportsphere Foundation has applied for a one day exempt charitable gambling activity raffle
permit at Bethel College on August 18, 2002. The raffle will be at the conclusion of a Minnesota
All Star Baseball Tournament at Hargis Park Stadium August 16,2002 to August 18, 2002.

Discussion
This application is similar in nature to other one day charitable gambling permits the City of
Arden Hills has approved in the past.

Due to tight time constraints, enclosed Resolution No. 02-41 specifically waives the waiting
period which is normally thirty (30) days. The organization has held this activity in prior years in
the City of St. Paul which only requires administrative rather than City Council approval.

Recommendation
Staff recommends City Council approve Resolution No. 02-41 "Approving an Application for
Authorization for an Exempt Gambling Permit for Sportsphere Foundation at Bethel College", at
the Regular City Council meeting of August 12, 2002.
