<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Council then discussed with the Engineers the <br />following topics: The Parks Committee's recommendation that a <br />sidewalk be placed on the east side of Hamline Avenue from Karth <br />Lake Circle to Wyncrest; turn lanes on the 36 foot wide roadway; <br />feasibility of discouraging cut-through traffic on Hamline <br />Avenue; the necessity for turn lanes; the necessity for one or <br />two crosswalks; feasibility or possibility of installing a <br />semaphore signal at the intersection of Hamline and 1-694, or a <br />sign preventing left turns between certain hours, and other <br />alternatives thereto; and alteration of bus routes so that the <br />crossing of Hamline Avenue by students would not be necessary. <br />A motion was made by Council member Hansen and seconded by <br />Council member Hicks that the Council adopt the following <br />Resolution No. 86-8 for a three-lane 46 foot wide road with <br />detached sidewalk on the west side thereof. After considerable <br />discussion, it was moved by Council member Sather and seconded by <br />Council member Peck that the original motion be amended to <br />include installation of a sidewalk on the east side of Hamline <br />Avenue from Karth Lake Circle to Wyncrest Court. This motion to <br />amend the original motion carried by a three-to-two vote, Council <br />members Sather, Peck and Hicks voting in favor thereof and <br />Council member Hansen and Mayor Woodburn opposing the same. <br />Resolution 86-8, as moved by Council member Hansen and <br />seconded by Council member Hicks and as amended by the motion <br />made by Council member Sather and seconded by Council member <br />Peck, read as follows: <br /> <br />- 2 - <br />
