As a result of this concern, the Council directed City staff to
pump water out of the lake using temporary pumping apparatus. The lake level was lowered
approximately 2 feet. During the pumping a number of residents along Wyncrest Drive
expressed concerns over lowering the lake level and a couple residents complained of adverse
effects from the pumping (City staffwas unable to validate those claims).

.

The Council indicated an interest in further monitoring of the level of Karth Lake and evaluating
the feasibility of a permanent means to keep the lake elevation under control. URS and City staff
are proposing to install a lake level gage while the ice is strong enough to support workers. The
gage will cost approximately $200 and require about 4 hOUTS to install. After the installation,
URS surveyors will calibrate the gage and City staffwill monitor the lake level to develop more
data regarding the effects of rainfall on the lake level.

A feasibility study of potential permanent pumping systems may be initiated at any time the
Council desires, however Council may want to wait to observe the lake levels after the Spring
thaw and subsequent rainfall events.

.
