.

Upper Landing- St. Paul

The Upper Landing is a 21-acre historic plot of riverfront property located on the
edge of St. Paul's downtown core. Through the vision and hard work of a multi-
faceted project team, an urban village, the Upper Landing, is taking shape in what
was once one of the most contaminated brownfield sites in the State of Minnesota,
The $170 million project is the largest development project in the city of St. Paul's
history, and represents a unique collaboration of public and private redevelopment
efforts.

The project involved reclaiming and redeveloping a site (including 2,500 lineal feet of
Mississippi River shoreline) that had been largely vacant, frequently flooded,
undeniably underutilized, and on the Minnesota's State Superfund list for almost 15
years, Through the summer and fall of 200 1, remediation of over 100,000 tons of soil
at the site was conducted to undo many decades-worth of indu:sllial abuse. Site
elevations were raised to protect the site against seasonal flooding events. The end
result will be the realization of the vision of the St, Paul community to reintegrate and
reconnect with a valued, historical resource, and to establish an urban village.

Sawmill Run - Minneapolis

The Minneapolis Community Development Agency (MCDA) received the state's fIrst
partial Certificate of Completion under the Minnesota Land Recycling Act on May
18,1994, for the cleanup of the 18-acre Sawmill Run property. This downtown
M}nneapolis property was fo~erIy the site of a sawmill, a coal gasifIc.ation pI~t,
rmlyards and a barrel recondItJoner. More than 23,000 tons of contammated soIl and
40 barrels of paint and soIvents were excavated and removed from the property. The
cleanup action also included the recovery of petroleum floating on the water table and
ground-water monitoring to assure that contamination levels decreased and did not
affect the Mississippi River. The cleanup allowed for a $12.1 million upscale
redevelopment project.

Other Militarvlnstallations

Tetra Tech is providing cleanup support at numerous military installations across the
country, including: Sunflower AAP, Massachusetts Military Reserve, Hunters .Point
Shipyard, and the St. Louis Army Ammunition Plant.
