.

.

.

Page Six
City of Arden Hills

MDA has performed these and other similar services in the various selection projects we have
undertaken. These can be discllssed with the City at the conclusion of the selection process, or
incorporated into the process earlier through discussion in an initial planning meeting. Fees for
these additional steps are not shown in the "Estimated Fees and Expenses" below, but would be
discussed and agreed to with the Board prior to approving any of these steps.

References

As mentioned, a record ofMDA's experience with public sector assessment and selection is
attached. Because the work spans a considerable period oftime, some of the individuals listed as
contacts may be difficult to reach.

Estimated Fees, Expenses, and Timeframe

The information that follows summarizes the project steps, and provi<!es cost estimates. Cost
estimates are developed based on past experience, and an assumed number of approximately 25-30
applicants. MDA stafffees range from $175-$375/hour for various members of the proposed
project team. The fees below are estimates only and can be adjusted to reflect the specific
approach we would take if selected for this project.

For its purposes, the City can assume that the lower end of any cost range is appropriate if they
believe substantial planning, development, or other preparation is not necessary. Whether the City
incurs costs closer to the minimum or maximum also depends on a number of its decisions and
choices, sllch as how many candidates to conduct reference checks and assessments for, etc. We
believe, however, that by capitalizing on our past experience, we can help the City complete the
City Administrator selection in an economical fashion, and very likely for less than the maximum
cost estimated. The April I start date is proposed only so that the Board can understand the relative
timing of subsequent steps.

Once MDA and the City design the details of the process, MDA could provide a more detailed and
realistic cost proposal and timeframe.

PROJECT STEPS AND ACTIVITIES TIME~'RAME COST ESTIMATE
.
1.
