.

e

e

,

~
~HILLS

MEMORANDUM

DATE: March 28,2002

TO: Plarming Commission

FROM: Aaron Parrish, City Plarmer

SUBJECT: Case #02-05, Guidant
A. Site Plan Review
B. Variance Request

Request

The applicant is requesting a site plan review and variance to facilitate a 110,900 square foot
expansion of Guidant Building F (former Control Data Facility).

Overview

Guidant Corporation is requesting site plan approval to construct a three story 110,900 total
square foot addition off of the existing Building F. Concurrent with
the application for preliminary plat, Guidant will make a formal request to vacate portions of
Femwood Avenue. Subsequent to plat approval, it is expected that a formal Master Planned Unit
Development application will be submitted. This would likely happen sometime in June or July
of 2002.

Second, as the Commission is aware, there was a neighborhood meeting conducted March 7,
2002 to solicit input regarding Guidant's proposed concept planned unit development. Based on
interest expressed at the meeting, public hearing notices were mailed to people within 350 feet of
the property, as well as those who signed-in and left their address at the meeting. Additionally, a
project page has been developed on the City's website to keep interested individuals informed on
