,

)

)

. March 3151,2003

John and Katherine King
1209 Karth Lake Drive

*Proposed assessment = 139.22 feet = $1,670.40.

. Obiection to proposed pavement assessment:

We feel it is unfair to be penalized for having a street-wide, yet shallow lot. Our square
footage is actually less than most of the lots on our street, yet we have been assessed
more because we have a wide lot. The city has assessed us at 139.2 feet (actual street
width), even though our lot most closely resembles the "shallow lot" in the city's
frontage foot calculation examples.

Thus, using the "shallow lot" calculation, the adjusted frontage would be:
14,363.69/130 ft. = 11 0.5 foot frontage

Fair assessment:

.

Even at 110.5 feet, this would mean that our lot would have one of the largest
assessments on Karth Lake Drive. Ibis, we believe, is still unfair since our lot is one of
the smaller lots if you consider total square footage. Wouldn't the total square footage of
the lot be a fairer way to assess?

It is our belief, since our lot is smaller than average, our home is of lesser value than most
homes in our neighborhood, and we will not be gaining anymore access and/or use of the
newly paved road than anyone else in our neighborhood, we should not be paying more
than any of our other neighbors. Simply dividing the assessment cost by the number of
homes would defmitely be the fairest way to assess individuals.

Thank you for your ti~ "",,~. consjd!ration in this matter.
0-<- /fi... rn:.. ~VW;W cYI1
.John and Kathedlle King \~
1209 Karth Lake Drive
651..(j97-0202

.
