June 4, 2003 AGENDA ITEM 7.B Mr. Aaron Parri sh City Administrator City of Arden Hills 1245 West Highway 96 Arden Hills, MN 55112 RE: 2003 Pavement Management Program Ingerson and Karth Lake East Neighborhood Dear Mr. Parri sh: Bids were received and opened for the above-referenced project on June 4, 2003. Bids were received from three (3) contractors. The tabulated bid outcome is as follows: . 1 2. 3. Contractor Amt Construction Company, Inc. Palda and Sons, Inc. T.A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc Bid Amount $1,903,147.60 $1,943,372.91 $1,963,359.90 Bid Amount $1,903,536.10 $1,943,372.92 Engineer's Estimate $2,082,000.00 All bids had proper bid guarantees in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid as required by the Project Manual. A bid tabulation was performed to verify the total bid amounts and two corrections were made which changed prices but did not effect the outcome of the bid. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for your information. Amt Construction Company, Inc. submitted the low base bid with a total base bid amount of $1,903,536.10. The low bid is approximately $178,500 (9.4%) less than the Engineer's Estimate and reflects a competitive bid in the current marketplace. Ingerson Court Recommendation The project as bid includes the reconstruction of Ingerson Court. The City Engineer still recommends the reconstruction of Ingerson Court for the following reasons: . The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) rating of 47 is well within the reconstruction range. . . Ingerson Court does not have curb and gutter therefore it does not meet City standards.
