Bids were received from <br />. three (3) contractors. The tabulated bid outcome is as follows: <br /> <br />Contractor A: Lift Station #7 <br />Jay Bros., Inc. $134,073.00 <br />Barbarossa & Sons Inc. $148,515.00 <br />Magney Construction Inc. $173,839.00 <br /> <br />I <br />2. <br />3. <br /> <br />B: Karth Lake <br />$98,699.50 <br />$105,180.00 <br />$120,834.00 <br /> <br />Total Amount <br />$232,772.50 <br />$253,695.00 <br />$294,673.00 <br /> <br />Engineer's Estimate <br /> <br />$118,000.00 <br /> <br />$84,000.00 <br /> <br />$202,000.00 <br /> <br />All bids had proper bid guarantees in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid as required by the Project <br />Manual. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for your iuformation. <br /> <br />Jay Bros., Inc submitted the low bid with a total bid amount of $232,772.50. The low bid is approximately $35,000 <br />(15%) more than the Engineer's Estimate. With regard to lift Station #7, the bid items for the lift station wet well <br />and the pump system produced the majority of the increase when compared to the Engineer's Estimate. With <br />regard to Karth Lake, the bid items for electrical control system and the submersible pump produced the majority of <br />the increase in costs. We feel that while these costs are over the Engineer's Estimate they do reflect a competitive <br />bid in the current marketplace based on the unique conditions of these two sites. In both instances the Contractor <br />indicated that their prices resulted from the difficulty in accessing the Iwo sites and limiting their impact to the <br />exisliug vegetation in Cummings Park and on the Presbyterian Homes property. <br /> <br />The Engineer has direct experience working with the low bidder, Jay Bros., Inc. including the Reconstruction of <br />lift Station #3 on Lake Johanna Boulevard and most recently the 2003 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation project which <br />included the reconstruction of lift Station #5 and #2. The Engineer is confident that Jay Bros., Inc. is capable of <br />successfully completing the work included with this project. <br /> <br />. <br />
