<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-) <br /> <br />\ <br />i <br /> <br />Site Data <br /> <br /> <br />Public and Institutional <br />Institutional <br />CC: Civic Center District <br />35 acres (1,524,600 square feet) <br />Moderate grade to the western part of the properly <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The Council and Planning COhImission held a joint work session prior to the February 10, 2003 <br />Council meeting to discuss plans for the Ramsey County Public Works Facility (RCPWF). <br /> <br />On February 26, 2003 Ramsey County held a public open-house on the RCPWF to give residents <br />a chance to view the proposed plans and answer any resident questions, Notices for the open <br />house were sent to over 800 residents, <br /> <br />Overview <br /> <br />The applicant is proposing to construct a 250,360 square foot public works building that would <br />house approximately 155 employees, This building would centralize administrative and <br />engineering dcsign offices, vehicle storage and maintenance areas, traffic signal and sign <br />fabrication shops, and road maintenance material storage. The Ramsey County Public Works <br />Dcpartment currently operates from a building at the corner of 694 and Rice Street in Shoreview, <br />and from administrative offices in the Ramsey County Government Centcr West Building in <br />downtown Saint Paul. In addition to Ramsey County Public Works the following agencies may <br />also occupy space within the Public Works Building: <br />. The City of Arden Hills Operations and Maintenance Department. <br />. Moundsview Public School District's Light Maintenance Division. <br />. The Ramsey County Soil and Conservation District (headquarters), <br />. Ramsey County Libraries' Maintenance Fleet (3 spaces), <br /> <br />In addition to the Ramsey County I Partners Public Works Facility (RCPWF) the Minnesota <br />Army National Guard intends to construct a 117,000 square foot maintenance facility (The <br />National Guard maintenance facility would provide routine and special maintenance services on <br />various military vehicles) adjacent to the RCPWF at some point in the future. Co-location of <br />these facilities would allow the National Guard to utilize the County's fueling station, and also <br />allow the National Guard to use the Ramsey County lot for Guard members' personal vehicles <br />on thc weekends when the RCPWF would typically not be used.
