Sec. 2-103. Duties and Responsibilities. . The duties and responsibilities ofthis Commission shall be to: (1) Confer with and advise the City Council, Planning Commission. and staff of the Community Dcveloprnent Department on all matters concerning industrial and commercial development. (2) Assist and advise the City regarding economic development marketing plans, programs, and strategies. (3) Provide advice and assist with the collection of data and information pertinent to the economic well being of lhe City. (4) Coordinate the econornic development activities of the various groups active in the City. (5) Aid the City Cotmcil and Planning Commission in lhe proper zoning and orderly developrnent of areas suitable for industrial and commercial development. (6) Assist wilh and provide insight on developing, compiling, coordinating, and publicizing information on matters concerning industrial and commercial development. (7) Assist in lhe preparation and irnplernentation of plans and strategies for business retention. (8) Recommend policies and particular actions regarding industrial and commercial expansion, attraction . and development to lhe City Council and Planning Comrnission. (9) Cooperate with and use the facilities of the Minnesota Department of Energy and Econornic Developrnent's Star Cities Program. (10) Cooperate with and coordinate activities wilh the New Brighton Chamber of Commerce, (1 I) Recommend long and short range plans and strategies for industrial and commercial developrnent. (12) Review proposed development proposals for cornpliance wilh the City's plans and strategies and recommend changes ifnecessary to better meet lhe goals of those plans and strategies, (13) Perform other duties as directed by the City Council.
