, , . . . The Minnesota Watch Your Car Prol!:ram The "Watch Your Car" program is a national vehicle theft program funded by the United States Department of Justice. It is my understanding that this program has not been promoted well at the state level due to the uncertainty of funding. The program involves registered owners registering their vehicle with the program that will then enable local law enforcement to stop the vehicle just on site of the identifying sticker to check to see who's driving the car. Theft From Auto Initiatives are currently under way to educate residents and visitors about keeping their valuables secure and not out in the open in their vehicles. We utilize the aid of the White Bear Lake Area Seniors Triad group and members of our Volunteers Involved In Public Safety Group for this initiative. These members along with a Sheriffs Deputy will look into vehicles and identify if the vehicle is vulnerable or not vulnerable to a theft. A quick report to the owner is recorded and left for review. We have done initiatives at the Targets in Shoreview and Vadnais Heights, Arden Plaza in Arden Hills, Market Place in Little Canada, and The Village Center in North Oaks. Knox Lock Box Prol!:ram The purpose of this program is to get owners and managers of secure multi- housing units to purchase and install key boxes. This allows our deputies rapid access inside the building to render aid. We currently have multiple locations within the communities and I am going to identify and promote further installation of these boxes as I identify the dwellings that do not. Problem Property Proiects When our department is notified about a specific problem in any of our communities we are ready and willing to address it. If the issue is a traffic complaint, juvenile issues, graffiti, or even a chronic neighbor dispute we look into the matter until it's disposition.
