<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of Arden Hills <br />January 14, 2004 <br /> <br />While there may be 6 to 9 deputies and a shift sergeant on patrol at anyone <br />time, there are up to 25 other deputies available in other capacities who, if <br />needed, can respond immediately and in a coordinated fashion. The value of a <br />quick response by this larger department was clearly evident a few years ago <br />during a labor confrontation that involved injuries between striking and non- <br />striking employees on a construction site. Within minutes, the Ramsey County <br />Sheriff's Department was able to direct eight squads, marked and unmarked, to <br />the site. More squads were on the site the next day to deal with the on-going <br />labor dispute. <br /> <br />6. Shared Administration and Supervisorv Costs. The Sheriff's Contract <br />Group recognizes considerable savings by sharing the costs associated with <br />administrative and supervisory duties. These efficiencies are realized in the <br />command and control of the basic services as well as special services. <br /> <br />Arden Hills has been a long standing and important member of the Contract <br />Communities Group.
