<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Provides technical assistance to City departments on projects and activities as directed by <br />the City Administrator. <br /> <br />Attends all City Council meetings and Commission meetings as required. <br /> <br />Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. <br /> <br />SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />Directly supervises the positions of the Building Official, Building Inspector and Planner. <br />Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and <br />applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; <br />evaluating performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. <br />Responsibilities also include the ability to effectively recommend recruiting and hiring, <br />recommend rewarding and disciplining employees, recommend promoting, demoting, <br />suspending and discharging of employees. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty <br />satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals <br />with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Business, Management or related <br />field. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of 2 - 5 years progressively responsible <br />experience in local government. Some supervisory experience required. <br /> <br />LANGUAGE SKILLS <br /> <br />Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, <br />policies, regulations, ordinances, codes, contracts, and procedure manuals. Ability to <br />prepare reports and correspondence. Excellent word, grammar, punctuation and <br />vocabulary. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with supervisors, <br />City staff, elected officials, other government agencies, and the general public. Ability to <br />establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the <br />general public. <br />
