PLANNING CASE # 04-01: GUIDANT CORPORATION; 4100 HAMLINE <br />AVENUE; MASTER PLAN PUD AMANGEMENT AND FINAL PUD FOR <br />"ADDITION J" <br /> <br />Mr. Hellegers stated applicants were requesting approval of a third amendment to the <br />previously approved Master Plan Planned Unit Development (PUD) and a Final PUD for <br />Addition "J". <br /> <br />Mr. Hellegers indicated applicant was proposing a 90,000 square foot addition to the <br />north side of Building E to be included in the current phase, Phase I of construction. The <br />addition, referred to as Addition "J" in the Master Plan was originally contemplated as an <br />80,000 square foot facility to be built in Phase 2. <br /> <br />Mr. HeIlegers noted staff recommended approval of the Planned Unit Development <br />Master Plan (Third) Amendment and Final PUD for Addition "J" subject to the <br />conditions as noted in staffs February 4,2004 report. <br /> <br />Chair Sand opened the public hearing at 7:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Chair Sand invited applicant to make comment. <br /> <br />Judd Brasch, RSP Architects, presented the Campus Master Site Plan to the Commission. . <br />He noted they were not sure when the next phase would begin, but they anticipated it <br />would be Building "K". He noted the addition would sit over an existing parking lot. <br /> <br />Chair Sand asked how many parking spaces would be lost. Mr. Brasch responded they <br />would be losing 167 spaces, but these spaces were replaced by the parking ramp. <br /> <br />Mr. Brasch presented the landscaping plan and noted they would be making revisions to <br />it based on staffs reeommendations. He noted the exterior building materials would <br />match the existing materials on the buildings. He noted there was a planned skyway <br />connection from the second floor attaching this to Building "K". <br /> <br />Commissioner Bezdieek asked how many staff positions would this add to the campus. <br />Mr. Brasch replied approximatcly 300 to 350 additional people once the addition was <br />complete. <br /> <br />Commissioner Modesette asked how many people would be in Building "K". Mr. Brasch <br />replied there could be approximately 900 additional people added. <br /> <br />Commissioner Larson asked if the parking ramps would be completed prior to the <br />Occupancy of Building "K" and "J". Mr. Brasch replied that was their goal. He noted <br />they were losing parking spaces with this construction, so it was important to have the . <br />ramps completed to accommodatc the necessary parking. <br /> <br />Commissioner Larson asked how many ramps were proposed with Phase I. Mr. Brasch <br />replied there would be two ramps constructed - ramps I and 5. <br />
