Jl "., ""

.

e

e

,
)

)

-Freshmen are not allowed to have vehicles on campus with the exception of
approximately 30-40 students that apply through an appeals process. These are
generally employment or medical situations.
-The shuttle service has been expanded to provide transportation for freshmen
students to off campus locations (Target, Rosedale, HarMar, etc).
-Car-pooling for staff and faculty: Unfortunately this option did not work well and
therefore was eliminated.
-Students currently pay $50 per semester for their parking permits.

Because Bethel is committed to maintaining the "pastoral" nature of the campus we do
not plan to build additional large surfuce parking lots. It is possible that at some point in
the future we would propose constructing a ramp in one of the existing locations.

Because we are not anticipating an additional parking lot for the new residence hall we
plan to restrict the number of sophomores who are allowed to have vehicles. Although
the exact number of sophomore permits to be issued has not been determined we will
operate within the scope of our current parking lots. To insure that this is not a surprise
to the 2005 sophomore class, prospective 2004 freshmen are being advised ofthis policy
change as they make application to the institution.

We believe that these measures will correspondingly impact traffic.

./

~

~
