<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Apri114,2004 <br /> <br />Agenda Item 2.1 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Couneil <br /> <br /> <br />FROM: Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator M...,~ <br /> <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2004 Council Retreat Follow-up <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City Council and Management Team participated in a retreat on January 23 and 24, 2004, <br />Since that time, Retreat Facilitator Marilyn Condon compiled notes for staff and City Council <br />review. Those notes were sent out in early February. I did not receive any comments or input <br />baek from staff or Council regarding the notes (a fresh copy is attached for reference). <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />We need to put the recommendations that came out of the retreat into some kind of work plan, <br />and prioritize projects as neeessary. Attached is a preliminary draft, Staff is looking for council <br />feedback and direction to proceed with implementation of retreat follow-up activities and <br />projeets. <br /> <br />Some of the items are already completed or underway. For example, Finance Director Siddiqui <br />has been reviewing options for credit eard transactions. The vacancy in the Deputy ClerklHR <br />position was resolved, but has since become a new project. Council has given staff authority to <br />proeeed with the recruitment of a civil engineer position on staff. <br /> <br />The Council indicated some key projects that they would like to see aceomplished in 2004, They <br />are listed below along with status. <br /> <br />PROJECT STATUS <br />City Hall construction issues resolved Mold has been remediated and work continues <br /> on the HV AC system. So far spring rain has <br /> not resulted in any basement flooding. City <br /> staff IS meeting with the contractor to <br /> determine if a settlement is feasible. <br />Communications Plan: Work on a City Communieations Plan has not <br />Cable Shows and Press Releases yet started. Staff has begun working on the <br /> development of some cable television shows <br /> (both single topic and on-going.) We have not <br />
