State Contract Specification Sheet for Chevy Blazer LS OVERVIEW . The 2004 CIP budgets $20,000 for the purchase of a new inspections vehicle. As outlined during the budget presentation, the current vehicle dedicated for inspections, the 1992 Chevy S-IO, is getting older and the impact of deferred maintenance has become more apparent in recent years. Our current schedule for truck replacement is generally 7 years. To replace the inspections vehicle, we are proposing that a 2004 Chevy Blazer be acquired via the state contract. The state contract price for this vehicle is $19,342. Sales tax and related fees are estimated at $1500. In addition, painting the Arden Hills logo on the side will cost approximately $500. Based on the aforementioned costs, the estimated cost of the vehicle is approximately $21,342, or slightly higher than the $20,000 that was budgeted. Staff would request a contingency of approximately $1658 to account for any unforeseen circumstances. From staffs perspective, acquiring this particular type of vehicle is advantageous for the following reasons: ~ The current inspections vehicle does not have four wheel drive. As such, it cannot be utilized on certain inspections because of the likelihood that it will get stuck. A current example of this situation is the Ramsey County Maintenance Facility project. The proposed vehicle has four wheel drive. ~ The interior storage space of the vehicle will be useful for other activities that require the transport of people and/or things. Examples include elections, neighborhood meetings, Celebrate Arden Hills, etc. . . .
