In a future year, this vehicle
would be replaced with a new vehicle for Opera1ions and Maintenance Director. This essentially
represents an additional vehicle in the fleet. Subsequent to this discussion, the Council has
added a Civil Engineer to the City organizational structure. This position will do a lot of field
work and need to visit various construction sites, residences etc. . . .

From staffs perspective, it is desirable to have an additional vehicle added to the fleet that could
be utilized by the Civil Engineer and Operations and Maintenance Director for the following
reasons:

~ Both positions involve spending a significant amount of time at construction sites. As such,
a vehicle that can effectively navigate these sites is important.
~ Both positions require significant resident visits and interaction. Having a City vehicle will
allow residents to feel comfortable they are dealing with a City employee.

REQUESTED ACTION

. Authorize the purchase of an inspections vehicle in an amount not to exceed $23,000.

.
