<br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />June 25, 2004 <br /> <br />Agenda Item 6.C. <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Murtuza Siddiqui, Finance Director/Treasurer "'rv\-S. <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Mounds View High School Mustang Club Raffle <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />Mounds View High School Mustang Club is a parent club which was developed to provide <br />Mounds View High School students with added support for quality programs and facilities <br />necessary to be successful. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />They are an inclusive club that supports academics, fine arts and athletics. They are a separate <br />non-profit club, not replacing any individual booster club at Mounds View High School. Funds <br />generated from the sale go to providing Mounds View High School with needed items that the <br />school and district are unable to fund. <br /> <br />They are a 501(c)(3) organization, formed in 2003. They have 9 voting board members and I <br />non-voting board member. Eight of the board members are parents from MVHS, 1 from the <br />Light Brigade and 1 from the school district. <br /> <br />Their first annual fundraiser was accomplished in the fall of2003. Some of the projects that they <br />were able to support this year included: Outdoor Stadium Field Speaker System, laptop <br />computer for the forum, dictionaries, and graphing calculators. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />Mounds View High School Mustang Club would like to hold a raffle starting on July 31, 2004 at <br />the 50th High School reunion and ending on the day of the Home Coming. The drawing will be <br />held on this day. Raffle tickets will cost $5 each. A number of items have been donated for this <br />raffle and they hope to raise approximately $25,000. Donated items include a diamond ring <br />worth $5,000, a Movado watch, a braclet, and a number of gift certificates from various <br />restaurants. Proceeds from this raffle will be used to fund purchases that are not funded by the . <br />school. <br />
