We propose (0 provide 130 caliper inches of trees between 2" and}"
and 80,5 caliper inches of trees between 3,5" and 4", for a (Otal of 210,5" caliper inches,

At the last Couucil meeting, it was proposed and agreed to that the number of 5" caliper
trees could be limited due to the existing conditions, but the issue of reducing the overall
required caliper inches was not agreed upon. At that time, we used the University survey to
calculate the existing trees on the southeast side of the project, extending from the campus
road north to the access road and found over 800 caliper inches of trees that were over 6"
in caliper size.

Now, with the site excavated and construction underway, it has become obvious that the
exisdng preserved canopy of trees framing the project site is extremely wooded and has an
overabundance oflatge calipet trees, It has also been noted by Mickman, the landscape
contractor, that the proposed planting schedule is very dense and will likely tesult from
loss of trees due to both overplanring and from large caliper trees planted on stoped regions
of the site,

Our proposal is two, fold, that fewer trees on this particulat site coupled with smaller
caliper trees will have a greater chance of survivaL

First, \ve propose to allow the existing caliper of inches on site to provide the 4" [05"
caliper requirement, equaling 20% of the totaL This interpretation of the requirements
