BACKGROUND

-

The project area that is being considered for the 2005 Pavement Management Program is a
primarily a light industrial and commercial business area. The area receives a significant amount
of semi-trailer and truck traffic, which are vital to the commercial businesses within the area. A
few of the businesses in the project area are retail oriented and are typically located along
Lexington Avenue however the majority of the roadway network serves employees and
deliveries/trucking for a variety of large and small private businesses. Special consideration of
the importance of consistent access to each business in the area will be made throughout the
design process and construction activities to minimize any inconvenience and disruption of
business operations, A number of infrastructure deficiencies have been identified in the area
which have lead to the inclusion of this area into the 2005 Pavement Management Program. The
following table provides information on the street pavements which are included as a part of this
feasibility report:

Exist.
