PROPOSED UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS

I'

SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS
The sanitary sewer was televised by the City and the condition of the pipes appeared in fair
condition, A few isolated sections of broken or crushed pipe have been identified and will be
repaired as a part of the project. If the repair is located along a street that is scheduled for mill &
overlay, the Contractor will excavate the section of damaged sewer, complete the repair and
patch the roadway prior to completing the mill & overlay, Trenchless spot repairs will be
specified wherever possible to limit construction impact.

W ATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS
The project includes the replacement of hydrants and valves based upon our recent experience
with leaking and faulty watermain valves and hydrants in the older sections of town, Many
valves are inoperable and some begin leaking as a result of excavation work going on around
them. Once again, on streets scheduled for mill & overlay, the Contractor will excavate and
patch roadway prior to completing the mill & overlay.

PRIVATE UTILITIES
Pri vate utility companies have been notified of the extent and proposed schedule of the project.
They will be required to relocate any of their utilities that conflict with City utilities or roadway
improvemcnts proposed in the project. A meeting will be held with the private utility companies
to discuss the proposed project and this may result in private utility upgrades. Although private
utility upgrades and modifications may be done in conjunction with this proposed project they
would not be installed as part of this proposed project.

URS

14
