ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION MINUTES June 20, 2005 6 City Administrator Wolfe said that a factor in considcring a pay increase could be based upon thc time, effort, and complcxity of the issues being dealt with the City at this time. Other factors such as market data could be reviewed as well. Finance Director Siddiqui asked the City Council what percentage of a COLA increase they would feel comfortable with in 2006. City Administrator Wolfe stated that the Local 4gers are scheduled to receive a 2.5% COLA increase in 2006. Councilmember Rem suggcstcd that UnIon and non-union staff members both receive 2.5% COLA increases for 2006. City Council and City statl members will continue this discussion at a latcr date. City Administrator Wolfe said that a budget calendar was also included in this packet for futurc reference. A work session mceting will be schedulcd in the near future to discuss the proposed 2006 budget in more detail. Proposed Replacement of the City Hall Copier Financc Director Murutza Siddiqui provided the City Council with an overview of the City's current copier lease agreement with Ikon. The lease agreement with Ikon is scheduled to expire on July 26, 2005. If necessary, Ikon has agreed to allow the City to lease the copier on a monthly basis. The City's current copier has made approximatcly 1.2 million copies the past three years on the existing copier. The typical life expectancy of a copier is about two million Images. Since the City has had vcry good luck with the Canon copier, staff began to focus its attcntion this particular brand. In March, City staff received a price quote of $25,538 (including sales tax) to purchase a Cannon Image Runner 7200. The maintcnance cost was quoted at $270.00 per month with a minimum usage of 30,000 images per month. The proposal also included a 36 month lease option at $740.00 per month. The buyout price for our cxisting copier is $12,032. City staff also contacted the local Canon representative directly to see if the City could purchase directly from thc manufacturer. Staff met with a local reprcsentative from Canon and requested a proposal. According to Canon, the City's current copicr is being discontinued. The Canon representative suggested the Canon 8070 model. This model copies more pages per minute and offers additional features that our current copier is not capable of offering. These featurcs include: . folding featurc; . book making capabilities; . and inscrtion of paper dividers. 6
