Arden Hills City Council
cc. Peter HeUegers

.

August 21,2005

Dear Council members,

Our construction plans and action have been delayed by health issues. Over the last 12
months I have been dealing with a series of severe respirtory problems. Resolving the
health issues has been our priority. We have found insulation for sound gathering dust
and possibly mold in our refrigerator and near the electronic air cleaner. The furnace and
refrigerator have been replaced and testing is in process to be sure the rest of the house is
clear. I'm working with my physician to determine what health issues might
enviornmentally related and evaluating other possible causes.

The previous plan had unresolved issues with roof structure and storage issues to
minimize stair climbing as much as possible. An elevator was explored but would be too
invasive from the exterior of the house as well use valuable garage space.

We have contacted architect, Rosemary McMonigal who has worked with enviornmentaI
sensitivity issues as well as arthritis. Significant changes have been made in the concepts.
The new footprint will pull back 2' and go less into the setback than the previous plan.
The preliminary sketch is ready but it is not possible to complete the final drawings and
specs before the variance time granted last year. These results will solve a many more
problems.

.

The timetable planned is attached.
- results for air testing - Sept. IO
- completion of plans and specifications -as attached

We request an extension for 6 months to complete this process and hope to begin
construction as soon as possible. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely, . ,I
CJ<.~/v~oda11/~
CarolyrVand Carl Mohn

.
