Day/zone system is used here to describe an arrangement in which the city is
divided into zones, each of which is served on one day of the week, not necessarily
Friday. For instance, collection could be on Monday northwest of
SnellinglLarpenteur, Wednesday southeast of Snelling/Larpenteur, and Friday west
of Snelling. If one day, say, Monday, is considered most desirable the schedule
could rotate once a year so everyone could get a chance at Monday collection. This
system would malce it possible to serve the whole city with one truck, and each
neighborhood would have one truck on non-recycling weeks, two trucks on
recycling weeks. A change to the City code would be required.

.

City of Falcon Heights Final Report on Organized Collection
October 13, 2004

17
