Moore, Director of Operations & Maintenance <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Summary of the September 21, 2005 Storm Related Events <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />This is written follow-up to the verbal presentation made by staff at the Monday, September 26, <br />2005, regularly scheduled City Council meeting concerning storm related events that occurred <br />after the September 21,2005 storm that impacted the City of Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Wednesday, Sevtember 21.2005 <br /> <br />TIME ACTIVITY <br />7:30 p.m. o & M Director alerts the 0 & M Superintendent and the On-Call <br /> Person about the possibility of a serve storm <br />8:00 p.m. Five lift stations are without power. All 0 & M Staff report to work. <br />8:45 p.m. The remaining nine lift stations are without power. One generator is <br /> stationed at LS #8 and the other generator has to quickly rotate <br /> between the remaining 13 lift stations to prevent sanitary sewer <br /> backups in residential homes. <br />9:30 p.m. Booster station is without power and the emergency generator is <br /> knocked out by a lightning strike. <br />10:45 p.m. Booster station emergency generator is restored. <br />11:30p.m. Temporary manual controls are established at the booster station to <br /> regulate water pressure throughout the City. <br /> <br />Thursday, Sevtember 22, 2005 <br /> <br />TIME ACTIVITY <br /> <br />1:00 a.m. <br />1 :00 a.m.-12:00 <br />Midnight <br /> <br />City Hall is discovered to be without power. <br />o & M Staff is manning the generators at the booster station, lift <br />stations and removing downed trees from streets and entry points <br />
