<br />-# <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- <br />~HILLS <br /> <br />Approved: <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2006, 7:37 p.m. <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 <br /> <br />CAU~ TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Aplikowski called the meeting to order at 7:37 p,m, <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Aplikowski, Councilmembers David Grant and Brenda Holden, <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Staff Present: City Administrator, Michelle Wolfe; Director of Operations & <br />Maintenance, Thomas Moore; Community Development Director, Karen Barton; City <br />Engineer, Kris Giga; and Recording Secretary, Kathleen Altman, <br /> <br />Also in Attendance: Planning Commissioners Ken Bezdicek, Clayton Larson, Roberta <br />Thompson, and David McClung, <br /> <br />Proposed Redevelopment of Arden Plaza Corner (Verbal Presentation) <br /> <br />Mr. Wellington, Wellington Management, Ine" 1625 Energy Park Drive, Suite 100, St. <br />Paul, stated they were interested in possibly redeveloping Arden Plaza on the comer of <br />Lexington Avenue and County Road E. He indicated they were considering what the next steps <br />were going to be, He summarized what could occur on the site, such as a bank:, drug store, small <br />grocery store (i,e, Aldi Market), office building, etc, He noted the Frattalone Hardware building <br />would stay were it was. He asked the Council what the City's objectives were for this area, <br /> <br />Kori Dejong, Wellington Management, Inc., 1625 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, was also in <br />attendance to answer any questions, <br /> <br />Ned Rukavina, United Properties, 3500 American Boulevard W., Suite 200, Minneapolis, <br />summarized the Aldi grocery store concept. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden inquired if all of the groceries sold at Aldi had current expiration dates, <br />Mr. Rukavina replied they did, <br /> <br />Mayor Aplikowski asked if there were fresh cut meats carried by Aldi, Mr. Rukavina <br />responded they had fresh ground beef, but there was no butcher or bakery on site. <br />
