<br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 3, 2006 <br /> <br />Agenda Item: 5 <br /> <br />TO: Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Michelle Olson, Recreation Program Supervisor -/11& <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Update on 2006 Celebrating Arden Hills Summer Festival <br /> <br />ENC: Current Sponsorship List, Schedule of Events, Event Budget Worksheet. <br /> <br />The purpose of this memo is to update you on the progress of our annual summer event which is <br />scheduled for June 24, 2006 at Tony Schmidt Park. The event is progressing nicely. The day <br />will be scheduled from 3:00 p.m. until dusk. This year's event will look similar to last year's <br />event with a few additions/changes. Tickets to the BBQ dinner will sell at $8.00 for adults and . <br />$4.00 for children up until the event. The price will be $10.00 and $6.00 at the event. This year, <br />we have gone with a new caterer and new menu. Our menu will be a pig roast/turkey roast. The <br />menu will include: One trip through line with choice of up to two sandwiches of either pig or <br />turkey and sides of coleslaw, western pasta salad, fresh fruit salad, corn on the cob, BBQ baked <br />beans, fried potatoes, brownie, and a beverage choice of soda, lemonade, iced tea, bottled water, <br />or coffee. Tickets will be available at City HalJ. As always, a ticket is not required for the other <br />events in the park and we will have a couple of food vendors at the event for those who do not <br />choose to buy a ticket for the barbeque dinner. <br /> <br />Headlining this year's entertairunent once again will be the White Sidewalls Rock-N-Roll Revue <br />who will be performing from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Back by popular demand will be the Prior Lake <br />Water Ski Show and Mad Science Presentation! After a one year absence, the Splatter Sisters <br />will perform at 4:00 p.m. An exciting addition this year will be two TCAAP bus tours. We will <br />have two tours and it will be open to all as space pcrmits. As always, the event will have youth <br />games, caricaturists, face painters, community booths, a rock climbing wall, and FIREWORKS <br />at dusk!!! Event details are included with this memo. Staff is asking for assistance from the <br />City Council with the following: <br /> <br />Ticket Sales - A crucial part of this year's event is the sale of the barbeque dinner tickets. <br />The main focus at this point, necds to be with ticket sales. Staff has given the caterer an <br />estimate of 400 people for the barbecue diruler. Therefore, the City needs to work hard <br />promoting the ticket sales. Our goal is to sell 300 tickets up until a week before the . <br />event. Staff could then sell up to 100 tickets thc day of the event. This number is <br />adjustable up until one week before the event. This is where staff needs your <br />
