Warming House Status Memo
May 3, 2006
Page 5 of6

Therefore, if we did not staff Valentine Park, we would save approximately $2,656.29
each season.

.

The estimated cost for this option: $1,708 which inclndes a one time fee of $285
for a 20 yard dumpster plus $1,423 for a one time cost of the electrical relocation
from the building to the pole. Figures for the tear down do not factor in labor
costs.

(2) OPTION B: Tear down the existing building and bring in a mobile unit each winter.

. Electrical Relocation: A one time fee 01'$1 ,423 (Attachmcnt 7B-6)

. Tear Down: ^ one timc fee of$n5 for 20 yard dumpster

. Rental of a mobile unit: $379,70/month (approx. $1, I 39_IO/season)

. Delivery/set up fee of$21 O.

The estimated annual cost for this option would be $1,349.10 per site plus the
one time electrical relocation fee of $1,423. For tear down we would ineur a one
time fee of $285 for a 20 yard dumpster. Tear down docs not factor in labor
costs.

(3) OPTION C: Build a small portable building that can be stored off site during the ofT .
season and brought in during the rink season.

This option is explained in Option C under Freeway and Hazelnut Parks.

The estimated annual cost for this option would be a one time fee of $5,000 (docs
not include labor) plus a one time electrical relocation fee of $1,423. We would
also incur a one time $285 fee for a 20 yard dumpster. These figures do not
factor in building or tear down labor costs.

4) OPTION D: Renovate Valentine Park to fix the drainage/grading issues.

. 'T'he cun'cnt condition of thc park is a direct cause of the rink quality being poor.
Renovation of the park possibly could alleviate the maintenance issues and
incrcase attendance,

. This estimatcd cost does not include replaccmcnt of play structure (proposed
replacement cost $55,000). warming housc building, or ball field,

The estimated cost for this option would be approximately $220,000.

For a specific breakdown of estimated costs for this option, please refer to the
attached memo from Kristine Giga, City Engineer. (Attachment 7B-10)

.
