Courtney and <br />Engineer Donald Christoffersen <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Counci I Meeting of October II, 1971 were <br />approved as amended. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Open Space Pro~ram <br /> <br />Mr. Kenneth Simons, County Architect for the Open Space Program, <br />appeared before the Council. He detal led the proposed county plan <br />as it. relates to Arden Hi lis, showed proposed open spaces 'on a map, <br />and discussed county procedures involved for the land acquisition. <br />He requested that the Village cOnfer with the county' before granting <br />app rova I to future deve lopments I f county open space Is i nvo I ved. <br /> <br />After discussIon, motion was made by Herrick, seconded by !tenderson, <br />that the county wet land plan for the proposed Rainbow Hi lis Addition <br />be approved as submitted by Mr. Simons; motion carrIed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Simons further reported that Ramsey County Is Interested In <br />acquiring the entire wetland corridor from Lake Johanna to Round Lake. <br />V; Ilage officials described various wetlands In the Vlllage,)fhlch <br />would be deslra.ble for .open spaces. The Council agreed Informally <br />to such areas, asked ~r. Simons to prepare a map' and legal de$~rlptlons <br />of such properties to enable the Councl I to take action on the matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Simons said he forsees possible pollution problems if a vehicle <br />maintenance project is bul It on the T.C.A. property bordering Lex- <br />Ington Avenue as proposed with Case No. 71-39. <br /> <br />Councl I members were invited by Ramsey County to toor the properties <br />that the county is Interested In acquiring. The tour will be Saturday, <br />November 6. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />North Suburban Day Activity Center <br /> <br />Dr. Dewey Force, representing the ActiVity Center, reviewed the <br />program which provides activities for mentally retarded children In <br />this area. The program center is loeated In Rosevllle. One-half of <br />the cost of the program Is paid by the welfare department; the school <br />districts provIde transportation. The parents of the chIldren who <br />attend the activity pay a portion of its cost and the participating <br />VI 'lage governments are asked to pay it part of the program. Arden <br />HI lIs was asked to pay $362.40. <br /> <br />Councilman Herrick reported that the Arden Hills Parks and ~ecreatlon <br />Committee recommended that Arden Hills participate In the project. <br />Motion was made by Herrick, seconded by Olmen, that Arden Hills parti- <br />cipate In the program and pay $362.40 for such services; motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />'. <br />
