• <br />rzuvirrEs oF x�:GULnx r�rs�c <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF LiEDEPI iIILLS <br />NION�AY, AUGUST 31, 1959 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:20 p.m. by Mayor Ashbach. <br />Roll call: Present; Ashbach, Crepeau� Kennedy� DeLange, Stromquist <br />Absent; none <br />The minutes of the August 31, 195g meeting were read and approved as amended. <br />• The minutes of the August 14, lg5g meeting were read and approved, <br />I�tr, Talbot Jones, P1AilYll � Consultant for Village sho�d a series of Village maps he ie worla.ng <br />on, Mayor Ashbach requested early completion of maps, <br />Mr. Al1en Johnson, 4529 Lakeshore Place, complained of a drainage pxoblem on Lakeshore Place. <br />rYatter referred to DeLange. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the request of John Nesky to rezone from residential R-2 to <br />Commercial a 300' x 400' piece of land at Highway 96 adjoini ro his gresently commercial zoned <br />land. <br />Mrs. Cliff Steinla•aus, 4535 L�eshore Place, objected to the extension of commercial zoning <br />into a residential area. <br />Mr. Nesky, owner of pmperty spoke in favor of the rezoniqg, stating it is across from Twin <br />• Cities Arsenal and in a suitable location for business. <br />Trustee Kennedy stated that Zoning Co�.ittee favored the rezon'n�. <br />h7x. Jonea, Planning Conaultant for Village atated that he ieels that Village already has more <br />tnan enough commercially zon�d land; that the history of over-zoning commercial is a sad one, <br />because mar�y business areas,fail if too large an area is zoned commercial; that one property <br />owner may not always own same piece of property, so village should determine what the zonin� <br />should be for certain areas. Mr. Jones recommended further consideration of the matter. <br />After Council discussion, Stromquist moved, Ashbach seconded the motion that the rezone request <br />be given fl�rther consideration by Council, with review of our entire Village Zoning Plan, decision <br />to be made on this matter at a later date. Motion passed. <br />Monroe Kronstedt, Civil Defense Director, reported on an accident injuring Joseph Beach, an <br />Arden Hills Civil Defense nember. Tne accident occurred Avgust 24 at University Avenue and <br />Robert Street while Mr. Beech was on Civil Defense duty for Itamsey County directing traffic <br />for the 40 and 8 American Legion Parade. Mr. Kronstedt and Police Chief Weber felt that the <br />liability for accident should be with Ramsey County. Matter re£erred to Village Attorney <br />• Courtney. <br />Mr. Ken Sparks requested permission for 7 to 9 families living on Forest I,ane in Arden iiills #2 <br />to construct a swimm� pool. <br />Nir. Perce Hale, 1401 5kiles Lane, stated some residents in that area objected to the project and <br />� requested a public hearing. The matter was referred to the Village Attorney. <br />Building plans for remodeling buildi.ng on �ii.ghway #10 for Schreyer, Inc, were submitted to Council <br />Plans were referred to Bu�lding Inspector Y.elley. If approved, Building Inspector to inform <br />Clerk who *.ai11 check matter with Cotricil m�bersz <br />
