He stated that the State Hip,hway Dept, will leave Hamline Ave. open £or one <br />more year so that at this ti.me Iioad Imp. #3 calls for the installation of a storm seHer <br />in abaut 100� of ditch just east oP Hamlina to take drainage of£ of Tiller I,ane. This is <br />a temporary measure and eventually a pipe will be brought across Hamline to the West aid <br />the drainage will be dumped in the swamp. <br />_..... <br />Mr. Burarrit explained that at this ti� the engineers propose drawing plans and profiles <br />of roads in Arden Hi71s #1. Thep recommend leaving street grades sar� as they e_�cist. <br />They proposo to put in 10�� of total surfacing thicimeas� 5° of which is a pit run sand <br />and gravel. and 32i� of stabilized gravel whi.ch is to be applied this year with a pene- <br />tration prima oil.surYace� the finished bituminous of 12 thick is to be installed in <br />the year 1962. In case of any settlement of trenches this settlement would be corrected <br />beYore final surface is applied. <br />•I�. Olmexi asked whether Stowe Ave. would be opened up as a county road between Alew <br />Brighton Blvd. and Lake Johanna Blvd. Referred to Attornay Courtney to check on this <br />possibility. . <br />Mr. Carl Tierney of the Diocese of St. Paul appeared beiore the Council to discuss the <br />drainage pro em from Nazareth Hall. Nir. Olmen moved, Airs. Strosnquist seconded Mr. <br />Courtney�s resolution which was stated as follows: <br />In the event that Nazareth Hall at the present time provides itself with a sufY- <br />icient drainage system to t ake the water off of its property so as not to <br />constitute a nuisance on Asbury Ave., if a drainage improvement is necassary <br />in the future� it is the present tnought oY the Council *.hat Nazareth Hall <br />wou].d receive no benefit from such iraPmvement proceedings. <br />ENvINEER.'S REPORT: The County Engineer was out last 'ltixesday to take care of i�'ir. Adam's <br />pro m. Mr. Short also di3cussed the drainage problem from Iake Johanna Blvd. adjacent <br />to Mr. Faye iiennedy's property. Upon query from Mr. Olmen, Mr. Short promisad to <br />look into the drainage om i•ir. Ol�-nenTs property. <br />ATTORNEY'S REPORT: �1r. Courtney referred to the temporary drainage that has been <br />inst lsd at the Zilliox property. A�s. 3nort suggested that no steps be tak en at this <br />time to establish a permanent drainage system. In the event Mr. Zilliox sells his <br />lald a new owner may subdivide the property ar�d have a different drainage problem. <br />Mr. Courtaey said he would take the material on this ma.tter out of his fi1e� � d will <br />have Mr. Short review the matter with the Council. <br />, Mr. Courtney reported on the N.S.P. road matter. He advised that N.S.P. agreed on their <br />liabilit� to repair roads �nere damaged by their action.
