hilivTES OF RGUTAR qRDETT HILiS V;.LI#GE COLitCIL IvTING - TZarch 27, 1961
Page 6 -
Jo Bessarfl;- I_ihrvay 8-'v'illage is luck5 to et tne nursin home as a
buffer. A lot of communities vould buy the property and
donte it to a man v:ho would be willing to put :p t:iis kind
o£ a building.
P,?ayor Ashbach; For examplo, the Pres}yterian Hcme - most o£ the propertg
owners have built after this buildin vaas eTectod,
Dr. Houle: This bvilding would be state supervised and licensed.
•

n,rs. Lund: County Read F- the people were taken by surprise several
months ago rhen Dr. Houle asked about the rest home. They
had come to discuss his patition for rezoning for multiple
d^relling. After they had a chance to think_ about the rest
home the residents are mpposed to the rest home itself.
The residents exprPssed their opposition to this project completely and
asked the Council to consider the number of residents signing the petitions
against buil8ing a res home.
ts. Scott Cotivan: , member o irTr. Kennedgs comm.ittee on zoning asked -
what is the integrity oi ,rden Hills as regards rezoning? Do
xe come to an area where knocn zoning is and then later be_
faced vrith chanaes - e.re we secure or are vre subject to
changes?
T yor Ashbach: Zoning cannot be static. It must meet the changing times.
Pllr. Newrcan: Valentine Court -:uzs changed his mind many times but nov.
favors the rest hom.e.
N!r. Bartsch: 1E14 l"•i, Countg Rd. F- defi nitely opposed.
P?r. Kennedy: At the hearing on the expaneion of the Anoka ,Airport I heard
that Arden :Iills, like North Oaks, was not after bueiness.
The Council is e.fter business but are fussy* about what kind.
and try to go along with the best advanteges to the Village.
P4rs.Lindquist: L'alentine Court - I cant understand why a rest home is
considered on propert5 across f'rom the hi;h school whexe
there is so much noise, etc.
Dr. Houle: The state wants rest hcmes built in villages rather than the
country as the patients want to see things and hear them.
>u?rs.Lindquist: Is the rest home to be for ambulstory patients.only?
Dr. Houle: It will have all three types of patients.
Mayor shbach stated tnat council h.ears all petitions of residents, that
is why there is alvrays hearinos on rezonin. This comment was in rebuttal
to those residents who questior.ed why the council i slways considering
rezoning.
Ms. Kennedy stated that the question resolves itself to rezone for business
fos the good of the aillage or not to grant rozoning per se because i.t was
zoned at one time for residences and shotl3 never re changed. Taxvise
triis rest home would be ;;ood for the villEga, lt :rould not burden the
schools.
\
