Noted that three new adult leagues are proposs4 <br />by the Parks Committee In 1979 because of anticipated participat(o� <br />by employees of severat now and enlarged businesses t#9utual Sarvice, <br />East Slde Beverage, Cardiac Pacemakers; Inc., Minnesota Oiversifled <br />Products, etc.). <br />Crtchton moved, seco�ded by Nanson, that Counc(1 approva the 1974 <br />Fall Program as proposed. Motion carried una�imously. <br />Summer Pro�ram Leaders � <br />Crichton referred Council to memo from Buckley (7-25-74) Iisting <br />Summer Program Leaders far Council's app�oval. <br />Crichton moved. seeonded by Hanson, that Counctl approve the Summer <br />Program Leaders as Iisted in memo. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Parks and Recreation Committee RecommenQations <br />Crichton referred Council to transparencies tpdicating the Parks and <br />Recreatlon committee's park recomm�ndations tn the Arden Oaks area; <br />noted that a 3-acre minimum park size is desired to serve tha netghbor- <br />hood north of County Road E; explained that an "active" park (s pro- <br />posed which necessitates primarily flat terrain; Indicated the destred <br />park Iocation to be partly within the Arden Oaks piat at the Mlesley <br />Avenue access and the adJolnTng property immediately south ot fihs <br />Arden Oak Plat. <br />Crichton reported that the Arden Oaks park dedication is calculatsd <br />at 2.= acres; noted that proposed lofis 3 and 4, block 4, Arden Oaks, <br />consist of about 1} acres; lot to the south is .8 acre and p�oposed <br />lot �proposed to be created) Immediately south of this lot is .7 acres. <br />Crichton explained that the Park Committee recomrnends acquiring �ots <br />3 and 4, pius cash requlrement for the balance ot Arden Oaks park <br />dedication, and the purchase of the two additional lots to the south, <br />as indicated, for park purposes. Crichton reported that proparty <br />owner has indicated a wlllingness to sell the raw tand at probably <br />520,000 each <not a fixed price at this time). <br />Crichton reported that other flat land wlthin the Arden Oaks plat <br />was not cons(dered by the Parks Committee to be as destcable for <br />park pu�poses; noted that the okner of the lots (south of Arden Oaks) <br />also proposes to use some of the excess dirt on the east end of north <br />iot for fiil on one of his County Road E lots, which is curreotly very <br />low. <br />Crichton explained that the Planning Comm(ssion is currently consider- <br />ing the Arden Oaks plat, and he wanted the Council to be aware of the <br />Committee's park proposai prior to presentatlon to the Planaing Gom- <br />. mission. <br />Hanson indicated that he would not be inciined to buy park land at <br />the figure quoted. <br />City Parks <br />Crichton reported that the Parks Commitiee is considering a suggested <br />closing time for the City-owned parks; recommendation wil! be forth- <br />coming for Councti's consideration. <br />-4- <br />� <br />
