•
break-through in the middle of PflcClung's property - the blue
and the brovm. I tried to make sense out of those aad I guess
we could do tbem now - they'd have the benefit of being done
now at today's cost rather than tomorroa's, but they don°t seem
to be necessary to support the base plan at this time. Don,
are you anticipating doing both of those sometime, or would you
argue in favor of doing both the blue and the brown some day?
t9Re CHRISTOFFERSEN: Some day the brown will eventually
be constructed, As that property develops, that will be con-
structed and tied into Snelling Avenue, but not that alignment,
but at that point there ,rill be some kind of alignment. The
blue line, I don't suspect, will ever change. The need for
that line (inaudible) in some manner. The thing that concerns
me is that if the blue and brown lines are not constructed now,
the whole system is being fed from the 12-inch here.
COUNCILMAN FVINGERTc If the government gives up a signifi-
cant piece of the arsenal, would that - let's say the southeast
corner which is not under any high pressure use at the moment -
would you still want the piece along Highway 96 on the south
side? In other words, the blue, or would you start trying to
feed across and pick some other looping up?
MR, CiiRISTOFFERSEN: i believe the arsenal has quite a
few large manufacturing bui.ldings in this area - maybe not
exactly - but I think they're in this vicinity, There is a
possibility that there may be some residential property abutting
Highway 96 and there may be some over there, although a lot of
this is being used for parking. I guess that the interior
buildings are being served by watere Right now I would say
there would be no need to go through this way. There may be
some need to go on Hamline, and to be quite frank, I don't
think your plan includes any of that. The master plan doesn!t
show any development in the arsenal.
COUNCILMAN CRICHTON:
from now?
[9here does the arsenal water come
NlR, CHRISTOFFRSEN:
I can't recali.
COUNCILMAN WOODBURN: I believe I remember they ran some-
thing in during the war. They came in from the west somewhere.
COUNCILMAN WINGERT: In any event, other than local ser-
vice, Highway 96 doea not seem a critical part of this plan.
• PlRRa CHRISTOFFERSEN; 2 think it°s a critical part of this
plana
COUQCILMAiV WINGERTo From Snelling to Hamlinee
E7
