Commissioner Larson asked if cvcntually thcy would move the Spring/Fall Clean up days <br /> that werc currcntly at Shoreview'to this facility. Mr. Wasniack stated they operated their <br /> Houschold flazardous Waste Site concurrently with that cvcnt, but they had not thought <br /> about moving thc sitc of the clcan-up event. He indicated he was not sure if thcrc would <br /> be enough room at the facility for this type of an event. <br /> Commissioner Larson stated hc had warmcd up to this rcqucst now that thc AmlY was <br /> not conccrncd about security andhe had no objection to this proposal. <br /> Commissioner Modesettc statcd she was in f~lvor of a 24-hour drop otl facility. <br /> Commissioner Bezdieek askcd how many oil drop-off sites did Ramsey County currently <br /> run. Mr. Noonan rcplied they had onc oil drop-ofT sitc, but municipalities within thc <br /> County otlercd oil drop-off sitcs also. <br /> Commissioncr Bezdicek asked why the County was reluctant to put in a sccUlity camera. <br /> Mr. Noonan rcplicd hc did not know the cost of a sccurity system, hut they did not havc <br /> any problems at thcir current facility and they would put in the wiring so if thcrc was a <br /> problem in thc future, they could add a camera at that timc. <br /> Chair Sand stated he would be in favor of an additional security camera and strongly <br /> urged thc County to put a camera inside thc building for safety reasons. He stated he was <br /> strongly in favor of having building materials that did not include metal panel walls, such <br />. as the one that was constructed iri Chanhassen. <br /> Chair Sand asked ifthc household hazardous waste facility was a seasonal opcration. Mr. <br /> Noonan rcplicd that was correct. <br /> Chair Sand asked what would prcvent pcople putting something other than oil down the <br /> spout. Mr. Noonan replicd when the vendor came and periodically emptied the tank, the <br /> used oil was tested and only the (?il was cvacuated. <br /> Chair Sand asked how ottcn the vendor empticd the tank. Mr. Noonan replied the tank <br /> could he empticd up to a couple oftimcs a week during peak times, but the vcndor could <br /> also bc called on an as-nccdcd basis. <br /> Commissioner Zimmerman askcd what would happcn if the tank was full before the <br /> vendor pickcd up thc oil. Mr. Noonan rcplied this had never happen cd in all of the years <br /> they had becn running a facility and the vcndor knew whcn peak season was and the tank <br /> was chccked frequently during that timc period. Ilc notcd the County's staff also <br /> monitorcd the tank. <br /> Chair Sand stated he would not suppOli a building structure made of metal. <br /> Commissioner Zimmernlan moved, scconded by Commissioner Larson to table Planning <br />. Casc No. 04-19, Ramscy County, 1425 Paul Kirkwold Drive, Special Use Pennit <br /> Amendment to thc February, 2005 mecting to allow applicant time to submit the <br /> structural architectural drawings. <br /> The motion carried unanimously ,(6-0). <br />
