<br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - Novcmber 20, 2006 <br /> Councilmcmber Larson said that he is comfortable with canceling the event in 2007, <br /> Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson suggestcd that she could takc lead on creating a <br /> citizcn group to explore di ffcrent options for future Celebrating Arden Hills events. <br /> Members of the City Council were in agreement that Celebrating Arden Hills should be cancclled <br /> in 2007 and revaluatcd in 2008. <br /> Councilmember Holden inquired about rcplacing the radio-read batteries for the water metcrs <br /> over a three ycar time frame. <br /> Public Works Director Grcg Hoag said tbat City staff is comfortablc with implementing a three <br /> year battery replacement program, <br /> Councilmcmber Holdcn asked if the battery replaccment program will be stalTintensive. <br /> Public Works Director Hoag noted that it will take approximately one-half hour per replacement <br /> and two staff mcmbers at each sitc. <br /> Councilmcmber Holdcn asked if the City is exploring thc possibility of allowing rccrcation <br /> program registration and payments on-line, <br /> Parks and Recreation Manager Olson said that City staff is exploring di fferent options for the <br /> City to consider regarding on-line registration and credit card payments. <br /> Councilmember Holdcn asked what is thc cstimatcd cost to covcr thc proposed registration and <br /> payment software programs, <br /> Parks and Recreation Manager Olson said that City staff is estimating the cost for the necessary <br /> software at 55,000. A small increasc would be passed onto the cllstomer for utilizing this <br /> scrvlcc. The on-line registration and acccptance of credit card payments would improve the <br /> City's customer scrvice [or recreation orograms. <br /> - . ~ <br /> Councilmcmber Holden inquired about the building inspcction solhvare that was budgeted for in <br /> 2007. <br /> Community Dcvelopment Director Karen Barton noted that staff does not currently have a <br /> softwarc package to track code enforcemcnt complaints. City staff is currently tracking this <br /> infol1llation by hand. The cost would includc the software and server. City staff is currently <br /> exploring different software and server options with the City of Rosevillc IT Department. <br /> Mayor Aplikowski asked how much time the Building Inspector spcnds on writing rcports. <br /> Community Developmcnt Director Karen Barton said that she estimates that two hours a day arc <br /> spent writing reports, <br /> 7 <br />
