property line; this gives a clear way about 15' wide or more over the stonn sewer line .
(except the location of the existing hardwood trees). The stonn sewer line turns toward
the north, away from my property at that point toward the lake. With the existing
hardwood tree and three River Birch trees (60' high, 40' wide) and a dozen pine trees on
the property to the north, we have a lot of screening for about 100' of the northern side.
Any more planting there would cause overcrowding and threaten survival of the trees, in
my opInIOn.
3) The area between the retaining wall and Lake Johanna Blvd:
. Six Black Hill Spruces (three at each end). Those evergreens (40' high, 30' wide)
would provide dense screening at the north and south sides from the street.
. On the slope: We would reduce the number of small shrubs to avoid
overcrowding.
- A wide strip of perennials (five or more varieties, multi-colors) at the
street level.
- Three types oflarger shrubs/ small trees (about 35 to 40 of them). Those
are up to 10' high providing screening effect in conjunction with Boston
Ivy vines on the retaining wall. They also provide erosion control in
conjunction with erosion control blankets and mulch.
. Tall perennials in the basin below the rain water garden (5 or more varieties,
multi-colors) to enhance water infiltration.
4) Shore-land area: Landscaping in this area is proposed with much interest in
erosion control, water infiltration, screening the street and giving a pleasant view from
the lake. All proposed vegetations and materials in this plan are recommended by the .
Rice Creek Watershed District.
. There is a group of existing tree remaining along the southern 113 shoreline.
. Proposed landscaping includes
~A wide strip of shoreline perennials (five varieties, multi-colors) closer to the
water edge.
-Rows of Winter Berry and Isanti Dogwood. Those trees/shrubs are 6' to 10'
high, providing screening of the street and add erosion control.
-Optimal use of erosion control blankets and mulch
. Proposed steps down for the future dock.
With this amended plan, we sincerely hope that its installation will provide an
effective long term means of erosion control, rain water run off control, sufficient
replacement of previous vegetation and screening from the lake and qualities
compatible with neighboring properties.
Respectfully, Q~~
Nguyet A. Ky
.
2
