~ EN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: April 11, 2007 AGENDA ITEM B2 TO: Mayor and City Council Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator Kristine Giga, Civil Engineer N#I Greg Hoag, Public Works Director~ FROM: SUBJECT: 2006 PMP Update (Siems Court/Lake Johanna Boulevard Intersection) BACKGROUND Last fall, residents of the 2006 PMP Ridgewood Neighborhood approached the City Council at the October 30, 2006 City Council meeting with a request to review the intersection of Siems Court and Lake Johanna Boulevard. A written request was signed by 29 residents representing 19 properties to widen the intersection and/or schedule a neighborhood meeting to address the concerns regarding the intersection. There are 62 properties in the Ridgewood neighborhood. A copy of the signatures is attached, as well as excerpts from the minutes of the October 30, 2006 and November 13, 2006 City Council meetings. DISCUSSION At the direction of the City Council, staff looked at widening the entrance and associated construction costs. Attached are four alternatives; the cost estimates are listed in the table below. Alternatives I and 2 were based on staff suggestions in an attempt to provide a low-cost reconfiguration. Alternatives 3 and 4 are based on suggestions received by the residents for a possible reconfiguration. Another alternative is to do nothing and leave the intersection as it is today. Surmnary Estimated Cost Alternative I Remove curb and gutter north of catch basins, results in $5,755 increase in oavement width from 65' to 78' at the entrance.
