<br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />September 19,2007 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 4.G <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> <br />Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager mcf) <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Approve a Proposal dated September 10, 2007 and Authorize Staff to <br />Contract with WSB & Associates for engineering services for the <br />Cummings Park Hard Court Restoration Project in an amount not to <br />exceed $6,440 for basic services. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 10, 2006, at a Regular City Council Meeting, the tennis court maintenance plan was <br />discussed. The City Council made the decision to budget in 2007 for a complete reconstruction of <br />the Cummings Park Hard Courts. It was concluded that these courts have cracks that cannot be <br />resolved by simply resurfacing. The pavement needs to be removed and the subgrade needs to be <br />evaluated and re-graded. Mounds View High School just recently had their courts reconstructed for <br />similar reasons; the City contributed $8,750 toward that project. <br /> <br />BUDGET <br />Staff budgeted $35,000 for the Cummings Park Hard Court Project in 2007. Plans and specifications <br />are needed to ensure accurate quotes and project quality. Staff had anticipated utilizing the City <br />Engineer for this project. However, due to time constraints it was determined that it would be more <br />efficient to utilize the recently approved Engineering Pool. Therefore, quotes were solicited from the <br />four firms in the Municipal Projects Pool. Staff received quotes from all four firms.
