Academic Plan <br />THE PLANNING CHARGEW I <br />Space survey data (see previous Space Utilization Study of April 2001) <br />helped understand existing space use patterns. The team researched <br />space planning guidelines used in education programs of other states <br />and observed teaching functions in progress. Space demand and data <br />analyses were conducted and used in assessing program space require- <br />ments and in making recommendations. Also, space utilization was <br />reviewed in conjunction with other collegiate space utilization studies. <br />Additionally, space quality as it facilitates the educational program and <br />safety considerations were reviewed. <br />The administrative organization of the College has been highly stable. <br />Along the desired trait of stability was the issue concerning "cluster- <br />ing" of programs, facilitating potentials of coring classes and sharing <br />resources were strong motivations for suggesting "like" programs/ <br />classes/ offices to be adjacent to each other. <br />need to be reviewed periodically <br />Facilities to insure consistency and proper <br />Utilization design response to the educational <br />& character _ needs governing at the time of the <br />design. <br />INSTITUTIONAL <br />DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />The Facilities Plan <br />The purpose of this Campus <br />Master Plan is to ensure that the <br />College's physical environment <br />suits the needs and requirements <br />of the users and facilitates the edu- <br />cational work and efforts of those <br />who operate within the institu- <br />tion's mission and boundaries <br />• sets the course for an orga- <br />nized approach to the College's <br />development <br />• helps the institution deal with <br />changes in an organized, rational <br />manner while adhering to guid- <br />ing goals and objectives <br />NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PARTNERS & SIRNY ARCHITECTS PAGE 1.3 <br />
