COLLEGE MISSION, OBJECTIVES & AFFILIATIONS K IV
semester in biblical studies. Students enrolled in a 4 -year degree pro-
gram earn a minimum of 30 credits (the equivalent of a second major).
Nontraditional, degree -completion students also take a proportionate
number of classes in biblical studies.
General Education: The general education curriculum at Northwestern
College is designed to enhance students' understanding of God and
His creation. To this end the curriculum encourages students to be
grounded in all aspects of life based on the Scriptures within a variety
of disciplines. General education exposes students to knowledge of
Western and non -Western culture, literature, the fine arts, knowledge
of fundamental scientific and mathematical principles, and the knowl-
edge of human growth and development within a social context. The
teaching of general education is designed to develop the student's abil-
ity to think critically, to reason analytically, to solve problems, and to
communicate effectively in speaking and writing. It supports the gen-
eral goal of the College to prepare students intellectually, emotionally,
physically, spiritually, and socially for life in the church and society,
and to be of service to God and others.
Majors and Professional Preparation: Northwestern is dedicated to assist-
ing students in their development of marketable skills in selected areas,
particularly in businesses or professions equally useful in either sacred
or secular enterprises. Northwestern uses the term "vocation" in its
literal meaning (i.e., God's calling), believing that it is the Christian's
responsibility to serve God's purpose in every aspect of life.
Campus Life Objectives Northwestern seeks to provide a God -honoring environment that
includes wholesome living, aesthetic enjoyment, relationship building,
social and cultural opportunity, and athletic and recreational activity.
Accreditations +Affiliation Northwestern College is...
accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of
the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
... incorporated under the laws of the state of Minnesota as a College of
the Bible, Arts and Sciences, and Professional Education.
... is registered with the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office
(MHESO).
NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PARTNERS & SIRNY ARCHITECTS PAGE 4.2
