To: Arden Hills Planning Commission
1245 W Hwy 96
Arden Hills MN 55112

From: Ann Dehn
960 Carlton Drive
Shoreview MN 55126
651-484-1686
adehn@att.net

To Whom It May Concern:

I have just received the September 11,2007 issue of the Shoreview Press and read the
article about the proposed Arden Hills Shopping Complex redevelopment.

As a Shoreview neighborhood resident for the last 31 years I feel compelled to comment
on the proposal. While it is certainly fine to update the shopping center itself, I am very
concerned about the addition of "big box," corporate retail. The community flavor that
our family has enjoyed over time and with the small-town close-knit feeling of the
present center seems in jeopardy, and that concerns me. In fact, the development of that
scale seems incongruent with what I think of as "Arden Hills."

This said, I also need to mention that Arden Pharmacy is our family pharmacy. In
raising two children they have seen us through everything from strep throat to acne with
sound, caring advice. In fact, I have said that I have received better advice from them at
times than from our family physician. Giving up that "hometown" caring would be a loss
to our family.

I do not deny developers their right to make money. I do feel, however, that it should not
be at the expense of the community. Please deliberate this decision very carefully.

Sincerely,
_. +trm
