James Lehnhoff

From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:

Evelyn Lawyer [Iynlaw@comcastnet]
Friday, September 28, 2007 8:38 AM
Fran Holmes; Brenda Holden; Dave McClung; James Lehnhoff; David_Grant; Stan Harpstead
No Walgreens

Dear Mayor Harpstead and council,

I read with dismay that there is thought to putting a Walgreens in at
Arden Plaza. Please there are 3 Walgreens easily accessible from
Arden Hills. We don't need another. There are also pharmacies at CUB,
Target, and Health Partners right up Lexington and also in the
Shoreview Mall.
When the post office in New Brighton moves the sub station at the
Arden Hills pharmacy will be our closest post office and even now it
is easier to use than the one in New Brighton.
What would really be nice at that corner would be a bakery. Case in
point: I was a frequent shopper at the Shoreview Farmer's market this
summer. There were two bakeries represented there. They were both
very busy, and if you didn't go early enough, often the bread you
wanted would be sold out. This indicates to me that folks around here
would patronize a good bakery. A bakery would give us not only good
bread but other treats that are not stuffed into plastic boxes,
forcing you to buy 4 or 6 when you only want one, etc. Besides think
of the lovely aroma that would come from a good bakery at that
corner. (Yes I know there are bakeries at CUB and Target but they
don't do what those bakeries at the Farmers Market did).
Please reconsider putting a Walgreens that we donrt need at that
corner and think about what fun it would be to have a good bakery in
the neighborhood.
Sincerely, Evelyn Lawyer (4539 Keithson Drive, Arden Hills)

1
