DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The area of public right of way between the property line and the curb or edge of the <br />street, but not on the street <br /> <br /> <br />3.1 Aluminum Cans <br /> <br />Disposable containers fabricated primarily of aluminum, commonly used for soda, beer, <br />juice, water or other beverages. <br /> <br />3.2 Contractor <br /> <br />The City's recycling service contractor under the new contract beginning operation on <br />March 1, 200S. <br /> <br />3.3 Curbside <br /> <br />3.4 Curbside Recycling Bins <br /> <br />Uniform curbside recycling bins (e,g" IS-gallon, green plastic recycling tubs) in which <br />recyclable materials can be stored and later placed for curbside collection, as specified by <br />the City, Also pertains to bins, boxes, bags or other containers used by residents to <br />separate their recyclable materials, (The current IS-gallon curbside bins were originally <br />distributed free of charge to all households by the City, Residents may now purchase <br />bins for $5.50 each, plus tax.) For single-stream collection proposals, see Section 4.6.2 <br />of this RFP which states that the Contractor shall provide containers for use in single- <br />stream collection programs, <br /> <br />3.5 Curbside Recycling Service <br /> <br />The recycling collection service, together with related public education and other <br />customer services, specified within this RFP utilizing curbside recycling pickup, <br /> <br />3.6 Fiber <br /> <br />As part of a dual-stream collection program, fiber includes the following paper items: old <br />newspaper (ONP) including inserts; old magazines (OMG) including catalogs; old <br />corrugated containers (OCe); mixed mail; old boxboard (OBB); phone books; and pop <br />and beer carriers/cartons, <br /> <br />3.7 Glass Jars and Bottles <br /> <br />Unbroken glass jars, bottles, and containers (lids/caps and pumps remO\ed) that are <br />primarily used for packing and bottling of food and beverages, <br /> <br />3.8 Mixed Mail/Junk MaillHousehold Paper <br /> <br />Mail, advertisements, office paper, school papers, envelopes, etc, Shredded paper is <br />acceptable in closed paper bags, no plastic bags, <br /> <br />2 <br />
