of Arden Hills - Comprehensive Plan - DRAFr
north of Highway 96 to connect the TCAAP area with Long Lake Regional
Park.
Bicycles are currently not allowed on the Arden Hills pathway system. In
order to promote increased physical activity and non -motorized
transportation, this policy should be reviewed to determine if some or all of
the paths could be opened up to bicycles.
9.4.4 Acquisitions for Park and Open Space
While there is very little vacant land available in the City outside of the
TCAAP property, the 2002 PTOS Plan did identify four locations that
should be incorporated into the City's park and recreational system.
These locations will expand open spaces, connect paths, increase
recreational opportunities, and provide more complete City parks:
o Charles Perry Park - The residential property adjacent to Charles Perry
should be acquired to minimize the potential conflict caused by reflected
light, noise and trespassing while providing an opportunity to expand the
recreational offerings in the park and to provide better park access.
o Round Lake Park - The open land west of Round Lake Park should be
acquired to provide adequate space for community soccer fields. The
amount of property to acquire should be determined by the number and
size of the fields needed. This land should be obtained by park dedication
and acquisition as possible.
o Round Lake Trail Easements - The remaining easements should be
acquired to complete the trail around the west and south sides of Round
Lake and make the trail connection to the I —35W railroad bridge (potential
future trail crossing).
9.5 TCAAP Park and Recreation Opportunities
The proposed redevelopment of the TCAAP property is likely to include a large,
central community park as well as an undetermined number of smaller
neighborhood parks and open spaces. Of the 585 acres that are part of the
proposed TCAAP redevelopment, 118.9 acres are tentatively planned to be
used for parks and open spaces.
DRAFT 45
282/2008
