~ ~ EN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: March 10, 2008 TO: Mayor and City Council Jim Willis, Interim City Administrator Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager 1f({} FROM: SUBJECT: Award of bid for the Cummings Park Hard Court Recoustruct Project, including the resurface of the Hazelnut Park and Ridgewood neighborhood courts. BACKGROUND WSB and Associates, Inc. were selected by the City Council in September of2007 to prepare plans and specifications for the tennis court reconstruction project at Cummings Park. After plans and specifications were completed, WSB and Associates, Inc. solicited quotes from five contractors who specialize in tennis court reconstruction. The quotes were returned with an average price of approximately $65,000. Since the quotes exceeded $50,000, and the project would need to be advertised for competitive bids, the City Council directed staff to delay the Cummings Park Hard Court reconstruction until spring of2008 at their Regular City Council Meeting on October 29,2007. At that time, staff was directed to update the 2008 budget and also include the resurface of the hard courts at Hazelnut Park and the Ridgewood neighborhood (commonly referred to as Sheehy Park). The City Council authorized the advertisement of bids for this project at their Regular Meeting on January 14, 2008. The bid opening for this project took place on February 28, 2008 at the Arden Hills City Hall. There were a total of eight bids submitted with the lowest bidder being Buck Blacktop, Inc.
