ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - February 25, 2008

13

Interim City Administrator Willis stated the Sheriff s office is asking for something in writing
from the City. He suggested replying to the Sheriffs office that as a rule, the City does not
expect to have a need for a Sheriff at City Council meetings, but in those instances where police
presence is required, the City will request it.

Councilmember Holmes expressed her appreciation to the Financial Planning and Analysis
Committee for their work on the Fund Balance Policy (agenda item 4F).

Councilmember Holmes reported that the Ramsey County Library website includes the library's
2008-2018 facilities master plan which she found to be very informative. She stated that she
serves as the representative to the library board and indicated the Arden Hills library, in terms of
infrastructure, is considered poor or inadequate by an independent rating agency. She stated there
was discussion at one time of turning the Mounds View and Arden Hills Libraries into a regional
library; however, this was not the recommendation contained in the master plan. She reported
that Arden Hills, Mounds View, White Bear Lake, and North St. Paul will remain as portals. She
added there is talk of moving the library to another location, but there is nothing definite on this.

Mayor Harpstead stated the City Council needs to fmd a time to meet with the city
administrator candidates.

Assistant City Administrator Simon stated he will contact each of the Councilmembers over
the next 24 hours in order to find dates and times to meet with the candidates.

Mayor Harpstead stated the County Road H planning money moved forward in the bonding bill
and at the last minute, the Committee passed all the projects. He stated this will pay for final
design, not necessarily for the intersection. He stated the amount is $6 million, which is not
enough to finish the intersection and it still requires a 50% match.

ADJOURN

MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember McClung
seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried
unanimously (4-0).

gular City Council Meeting at 8:25 p.m.

~r

______ Noah A. Simon
Deputy City Clerk
